Donna Cooper

Kia ora koutou from our CEO

We recently came to the end of the 2018-19 financial year, which has provided a good opportunity to reflect on TSB and what the Bank has achieved in the last 12 months.

TSB delivered a solid annual profit before tax of $62.6 million. I am confident our continued focus on putting our customers first has had a direct, positive impact on this result. I am continually impressed with the real passion and commitment our people demonstrate with our customers, every day.

It’s clear that our customers also recognise that we have you at the heart of everything we do. In the last year we’ve been recognised by Consumer New Zealand, Roy Morgan and Canstar Blue for leading customer satisfaction amongst New Zealand banks.

TSB has a unique ownership structure and we operate differently to other banks. We care about profit for purpose – not about profit for profit’s sake.

As a 100% locally owned bank, we keep profit in New Zealand, create high quality careers in regions across the country, partner with national organisations doing crucial work in local communities and contribute millions to assisting the TSB Community Trust – the Bank’s owner, in its philanthropic work in Taranaki.

Investing in the growth and wellbeing of New Zealand communities and people is at the heart of our business. You can learn more in our Annual Report, which is now available on our website.

I am looking forward to what this coming financial year holds for TSB and our customers. We have an important role to play in the New Zealand banking industry going forward and I am excited about our future – and what we will be able to do for you. Thank you for coming on the journey with us.

Ngā mihi,

Donna Cooper

We’re thrilled to announce we are a major sponsor of The Block NZ this year. We’ll be a part of the 12-week journey where four teams will be tasked with renovating high-end apartments in Kingsland, Auckland. Contestants will use our mobile banking app to check balances, receive alerts when their Block partner spends any money from the team account, and we’re the cash prize partner for weekly room reveals and challenges. Keep an eye out for TSB on this season of The Block NZ on Three.

Password Perfection – Strong, Unique Passwords Matter

Your passwords are your first line of defence against fraudsters. Every day, website and online account compromises expose thousands of usernames, email addresses and passwords.

With your username or email address, a fraudster will hunt down all associated accounts and will attempt to login with your exposed password. This is why unique passwords matter. When a fraudster can’t guess your password, they use computer programs to guess thousands of passwords per second. For this technique to be successful, the password needs to be easy to identify. This is why a strong password matters.

The longer and more unique your password; the less likely it is to be revealed. Too many passwords to remember? Consider using a password manager. A computer/smartphone application that not only tracks and stores your passwords, but can also generate strong, random passwords for each of your accounts.

When choosing a password manager, ensure it is from a known, trustworthy company with a good reputation.
