Confirmation of Payee

Will apply to domestic payments made between New Zealand bank accounts when you are:

Setting up a new account to pay

Making a one-off payment

Editing an existing account to pay online

The service will provide a check to compare the name a customer enters against the actual name of that account, and provide a response of:​ 

  • Match​
  • Partial match ​
  • Not a match 
  • Or an error message that we're unable to complete a check

It’s then up to the customer to decide whether to proceed with the payment or not.
