You can apply for a new credit card online.
You’ll need to provide details about yourself, what you earn and spend, and what you owe, including proof of income and expenses. It’s a good idea to have this information ready before you apply.
See what you'll need for your application.
You can also compare our Low Rate Mastercard and Platinum Mastercard to find the right option for you.
We may charge your card account with fees for issuing and using your card, and for related services. These may include annual fees, additional card fees, card replacement fees and currency conversion fees on foreign currency transactions.
Annual fees depend on which card you choose:
- Low Rate Mastercard - $20 a year
- Platinum Mastercard - $90 a year
Fees also apply for additional cards and some other services. See our TSB credit card rates, fees and agreements for full detail.
No. A TSB credit card can only have one primary cardholder.
You can add an additional cardholder to your account. They can use the card and access the available credit limit, but they aren’t responsible for repaying the outstanding balance.
You can provide one of the following:
- Bank statements
- Recent payslips

- Inland Revenue Department (IRD) documents
We’ll need your last three months of bank statements to verify your expenses. You don’t need to provide statements for accounts you have with TSB.
If you use more than one account for your day-to-day expenses, you’ll need to provide statements for all of them. This includes credit cards you use for your living expenses.
Before you upload your statements, double check:
- They’re PDF statements downloaded from online banking or provided by your bank. We can’t accept scans, paper copies, transactions lists, exports or other file types.
- The heading ‘Statement’ is on the document.
- They cover 90 consecutive days for each account.
- Your most recent statement is no more than 30 days old.
If you’re using bank statements to verify your income, the account your income is paid into is included.

Replacing or renewing your card
Yes, your replacement card will have a new card number. You shouldn’t need to update your card details with every service provider. Mastercard automatically updates your new card details for participating merchants, helping your recurring payments and subscriptions carry on as usual.
Some merchants may not support this feature, so it’s a good idea to check any important recurring payments after you’ve activated your new card.
Your credit card account number will stay the same.
If you live in New Zealand, we’ll automatically send you a replacement card at the beginning of the month your card expires.
We’ll email you the month before to let you know what’s happening and anything you need to do.
If you're overseas or need your replacement card early for overseas travel, call us on 0800 872 226, or +64 6 968 3700 from overseas. We're available Monday-Friday 8am-6pm, and weekends 9am-5pm. See our public holiday opening hours.
If you never activated your current card, we won’t automatically issue a replacement.
